Notes: Very pre-series 1, no spoilers at all for S3, there's foreshadowing for S2 events though, title is blatantly borrowed.
It wasn't until the last day of his rotation with obstetrics he'd stayed for an entire birth. Part of him wished he'd not been there even then. His excuses had finally run out. He'd been handed the little girl to check over and then back to mum. A tiny hand grabbed his finger. He blinked at the small creature bundled in the blanket settled in his arms. Owen had a feeling then he'd never get to be handed a baby, told it was his new son or daughter, go home being the proud daddy. He sighed and handed her back.
